Updated 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers Draft Picks

On Tuesday, the NFL announced 35 compensatory draft picks for the 2025 NFL draft based on losses in free agency in 2024. As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers were not awarded any additional selections, but the exact spots where the Steelers are currently scheduled to make their picks are now known.

It must be pointed out that the Steelers have had a number of their picks moved around in various trades ahead of 2025. The Steelers still had a swap of their 6th round pick for the LA Rams 5th round pick as part of the Kevin Dotson trade, but the Steelers traded that 5th round pick to the NY Jets for Mike Williams. The Steelers also received a 6th round pick from Houston for Kendrick Green, but that pick went to Chicago for Justin Fields. The Steelers also gained two 7th round picks from the Eagles in the Kenny Pickett trade, but sent their own pick to Green Bay for Preston Smith.

With all those trades, it can be confusing as to what picks the team has in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Here is the full allotment of Steelers draft picks, at this time. It should be noted the trade for DK Metcalf has not gone through and is not reflected yet, but those picks will be noted.

Pittsburgh Steelers Draft Picks By Round

Round 1, Pick 21
Round 2, Pick 52*
Round 3, Pick 83
Round 4, Pick 123
Round 5, Pick 156
Round 7, Pick 223**
Round 7, Pick 229**

*Reportedly traded to Seattle for DK Metcalf
**One of these two picks was reportedly traded to Seattle in exchange for Round 6, Pick 185

Notes:

The trade for DK Metcalf has not been announced yet by the Steelers. It has been reported the Steelers will send pick 52 and either pick 223 or 229 from the 2025 draft to Seattle for Metcalf and a sixth round pick. The only pick Seattle currently has in the sixth round is selection 185, so it is assumed this will be the pick.

There were a number of incorrect reports that had the Steelers with three 7th round draft picks for 2025. The mistake came from the Steelers trade for William Jackson III in 2023, but it was a conditional trade. The Steelers traded their 6th round pick to Washington for the Commanders’ 7th round pick. It was well known that the conditions of this trade were not met, and the Steelers no longer had a 6th round draft pick to send to Washington based on the Justin Fields trade. It made no sense one place still gave the Steelers Washington’s 7th round pick with nothing back in return. Hopefully with the NFL announcing all the selections this misinformation can be put to rest.

Will these be the picks when the draft rolls around near the end of the April? Or will Omar Khan and company continue to wheel and deal and move these picks around?
