Steelers sign Max Scharping to a one-year contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers might be preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft next week, but they aren’t done filling some cracks in their roster ahead of the 3-day selection process.

Tuesday afternoon it was announced the team signed offensive lineman Max Scharping to a one-year contract. This from the Steelers official Twitter/X account:

He was often inactive for the Steelers in 2024 appearing and only two regular season games where he played seven offensive snaps, all vs. the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17, and one special team snap..

As for Scharping’s history in the game, he is in his sixth season in the NFL, has appeared he 79 games, starting 33 of them. He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the 55th overall selection. He spent three seasons with the Texans, appearing in 48 games, starting 33 of them at both left guard and right guard. Scharping was acquired via waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022, playing in 14 games that season, without any regular season starts. He started all three postseason games at right guard after an injury to Alex Cappa. Last season he appeared in 17 games for the Bengals, mainly on special teams.
