Steelers Send Rookie Mini-Camp Invitations to Quartet of Undrafted Prospects

The Pittsburgh Steelers are active in the Post-NFL Draft landscape signing Undrafted Free Agents and now sending off invitations to intriguing prospects to attend their Rookie Mini-Camp scheduled for May 8-11, 2025. While most fans are enamored with the Steelers actual Draft selections, we here at the Steel Curtain Network promise to keep you updated on every player that gets an opportunity to compete for a roster spot this offseason.

Let’s take a look at the 4 invites reported on Monday and what they might bring to the table.

TOMMY SMITH, WIDE RECEIVER, RHODE ISLAND

Smith is a massive 6’2″ 230lb offensive playmaker who lined up everywhere on the field for the Blue Devils of Rhode Island, but was most effective in 2024 as a Special Teams player, landing First Team All-CAA honors, and as a Fullback where he earned Second Team All-CAA honors. Teams is probably his path to an NFL roster, but he’ll get a chance to show his stuff at Steelers rookie camp.

SETH MORGAN, QUARTERBACK, NEW HAMPSHIRE

Morgan put up 2,382 passing yds, 22 TDs, and 8 INTs in his final season as the Quarterback of the Wildcats and has decent size for a small school prospect. He hails from Pittsburgh, so it stands to reason the Steelers would be one of the teams most aware of Morgan’s abilities.

EDDIE FAULKNER IV, SAFETY, SLIPPERY ROCK

The connection is even more obvious for this one. As the son of the Steelers Running Backs Coach, the former Slippery Rock Safety, Eddie Faulkner IV, gets an invite to show what he’s got at Steelers rookie camp. Faulkner is undersized at 5’8″ and 190lbs, but he is speedy and was productive at Slippery Rock.

HOLLIS MATHIS, OFFENSIVE WEAPON, WILLIAM AND MARY

Mathis is only the 2nd player in NCAA history to put up over 1,000 yds in his career as a passer, runner, and receiver. A true Swiss army knife in college, Mathis is athletic and talented, and worth a look maybe in the return game. He likely caught Mike Tomlin’s attention as a player for Tomlin’s alma-mater.

a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, since the 70’s I hope the Steelers do fine some hidden gems in this undrafted free agent group with the preseason games being too short
