Steelers NFLPA grades rank near the bottom of the league again
The new NFL league year is set to begin on March 10th with the start of the legal tampering period, and every year the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) releases their annual “report card” where players grade their respective organizations in several categories.
Those categories are:
- Treatment of Facilities
- Food and Dining
- Nutrition/Dietitian
- Locker Room
- Training Room
- Training Staff
- Weight Room
- Strength Coaches
- Team Travel
- Head Coach
- Ownership
The reason for the timing of these grades being released at this point is really simple. It is an opportunity for the NFLPA to let prospective free agents know what they might be getting into as they look around the league at teams who might be vying for their services in 2025, and beyond.
Last year these grades weren’t very kind to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and that trend continued into 2025. Here is how the Steelers were graded in each of the categories, and what was the reasoning behind the grades.

When you look at these grades, it certainly doesn’t shine a positive light on the organization in many facets. Sharing a facility with the University of Pittsburgh absolutely doesn’t help the cause, but possibly the most shocking grades were an ‘A’, and the only ‘A’ grade, to Mike Tomlin with Art Rooney II and ownership getting the grade of a ‘D’, the lowest grade along side the locker room grade.

The percentages of players who are saying whatever they are asked about is adequate seems very high for how low they get ranked. 85% of the players think they have enough trainers, which ranks them 22nd in the league. 94% gets you 10th. The biggest concern was Rooney imo
