Steelers lose first coach of the offseason, Aaron Curry goes to the Jets

The Pittsburgh Steelers were expected to have some turnover on their coaching staff this offseason, and the first coach to be replaced has been made known. That would be inside linebacker coach Aaron Curry, who is moving on to the New York Jets.

This report comes from Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Aaron Curry is no longer the linebackers coach for the Steelers. He is moving on to the New York Jets.

It is unknown if Curry chose to leave the Steelers for the Jets, or if the Steelers chose not to renew his contract, which has become almost a yearly practice with the Steelers organization. However, the Steelers will now be searching for a new inside linebackers coach this offseason to coach Patrick Queen, Payton Wilson, and anyone else the team decides to add at the position.

For a background on Curry’s coaching career, he joined the Seahawks coaching staff on March 11, 2020 as a defensive assistant after spending the 2019 season as a coaching assistant. On February 22, 2023, Curry was hired as an inside linebackers coach for the Steelers.

Could other coaches be replaced soon? While many in the fan base had a hope that a lot of turnover on the coaching staff would take place, it certainly doesn’t seem to be the case. There might just be a couple coaches who didn’t have their contracts expired who will be replaced.
