Steelers latest Top 30 Visits include a trio of offensive players and a CB
The 2025 NFL Draft is approaching, and the Pittsburgh Steelers enter the time of the offseason filled with Pro Days and Pre-Draft visits, of which they are allotted 30 for non-local prospects. Getting these guys in the building helps in multiple ways. From deep-diving medical evaluations to comprehensive in-person interviews, it’s a chance for the Steelers to really get a bead on specific prospects they want to really get to know before Draft Day rolls around.
The other major benefit is for us as fans. Since these visits are limited, it really helps to narrow down which prospects and position groups are of the most interest to the team in this NFL Draft process. If a player comes for a Top 30 Visit, it’s not a smokescreen, it’s because there is real interest between the organization and prospect.
A group of notable prospects were announced as the latest Pre-Draft Visitors to the Steel City. We already looked at WR Matthew Golden from Texas. In all, Pittsburgh is playing host to 3 more “Top 30” visitors and 1 local prospect whose attendance does not count against the team’s limit of 30 non-local visits. Let’s take a look at each player below:
The Steelers’ four pre-draft visitors today:
Texas WR Matthew Golden
Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson
Florida State CB Azareye’h Thomas
Pitt TE Gavin Bartholomew (local)— Nick Farabaugh (@FarabaughFB) April 3, 2025
The #Steelers have a pre-draft visit scheduled with FSU DT Joshua Farmer, according to a report by Justin Melo of TDN. Farmer said he planned on coming to Pittsburgh at his pro day.
One of my top players from the Senior Bowl. Surprised he’s still being mocked in the third round.…

TOP 30 VISITORS
KALEB JOHNSON
Running Back | Iowa
Ht. 6010 | Wt. 224lbs | Junior

Jeremy Betz’s Scouting Report:
Johnson is one of the most complete backs in the country, with a good blend of size and athleticism to attack defenses in a multitude of roles. He’s best as a one-cut wide-zone runner, using his vision and burst to find running lanes and get upfield in a hurry. He possesses deceptive speed in the open field, using his long strides to cover ground and turn average gains into big plays. Johnson is my RB3 in this class, and overall he has the contact balance, field vision, and athleticism to handle a large NFL workload from Day 1.
AZAREYE’H THOMAS
Cornerback | Florida State
Ht. 6015 | Wt. 197lbs | Junior

Jeremy Betz’s Scouting Report:
Thomas is an intriguing corner prospect with great size and length. He excels as a bump and run corner, using his strength and long arms to disrupt route runners and stick with them down the field, despite not being the fastest player on tape. Needs to improve his read and react ability in zone coverage and his overall field vision. He has lock down potential as a man-coverage specialist on the outside at the next level.
JOSHUA FARMER
Defensive Tackle | Florida State
Ht. 6030 | Wt. 305lbs | Redshirt Junior

Jeremy Betz’s Scouting Report:
Farmer’s tape was really solid in 2023-2024, but his draft rise started in Mobile with an impressive performance at the Senior Bowl. With 35″ arms and a powerful base, Farmer can really manipulate blockers at the point of attack, where his ability to stack and shed blocks and get into the backfield stand out. He can rush the passer and help in the run game as a 3-5 tech up front. In the right system, Farmer could grow into an above average starter early in his career. Overall, he’s a Day 2 prospect who will make an impact early as a rotational disruptor and eventual starter along the DL.
LOCAL PROSPECT (DOES NOT COUNT AGAINST TOP 30)
GAVIN BARTHOLOMEW
Tight End | Pitt
Ht. 6050 | Wt. 246lbs | Senior

Jeremy Betz’s Scouting Report:
Bartholomew is a traditional in-line TE prospect with good size, but he lacks the overall athleticism to provide much effectiveness as a pass catcher at the next level. As a blocker, he is willing to get his hands dirty, but he can struggle to finish blocks against bigger edge rushers and linebackers. An NFL weight room could be just what the doctor ordered for Bartholomew to gain some functional strength and operate as a depth blocking TE and special teams contributor.
