Steelers Host Big-Bodied WR for Latest Top 30 Visit

The 2025 NFL Draft is approaching, and the Pittsburgh Steelers enter the time of the offseason filled with Pro Days and Pre-Draft visits, of which they are allotted 30 for non-local prospects. Getting these guys in the building helps in multiple ways. From deep-diving medical evaluations to comprehensive in-person interviews, it’s a chance for the Steelers to really get a bead on specific prospects they want to really get to know before Draft Day rolls around.

The other major benefit is for us as fans. Since these visits are limited, it really helps to narrow down which prospects and position groups are of the most interest to the team in this NFL Draft process. If a player comes for a Top 30 Visit, it’s not a smokescreen, it’s because there is real interest between the organization and prospect.

The next prospect announced as a Top 30 Visit for Pittsburgh is Jayden Higgins, an intriguing receiver out of Iowa State with elite size and speed.

Jeremy Betz’s Scouting Report:

Jayden Higgins is a powerful, big-bodied WR who excels on vertical routes down the field. He boasts fantastic contested-catch skills, using his size and strong hands to high-point the football in 50-50 situations. Possesses deceptive speed to run by defenders, although he locks the true top end speed to be a homerun hitter after the catch. Will need to expand his route tree at the next level to complete his game, but Higgins knows what he is and uses his strengths well. He’s a mismatch out of the slot as well vs. linebackers and nickel corners with his size and speed. Overall, Higgins is a Day 2 WR prospect with WR2 upside early in his career. If he can improve as a route-runner, he has the physical traits to eventually be a number 1 on the outside.
