Steelers Continue Focus on Running Back with Latest Top 30 Visit
The 2025 NFL Draft is approaching, and the Pittsburgh Steelers enter the time of the offseason filled with Pro Days and Pre-Draft visits, of which they are allotted 30 for non-local prospects. Getting these guys in the building helps in multiple ways. From deep-diving medical evaluations to comprehensive in-person interviews, it’s a chance for the Steelers to really get a bead on specific prospects they want to really get to know before Draft Day rolls around.
The other major benefit is for us as fans. Since these visits are limited, it really helps to narrow down which prospects and position groups are of the most interest to the team in this NFL Draft process. If a player comes for a Top 30 Visit, it’s not a smokescreen, it’s because there is real interest between the organization and prospect.
The Steelers’ latest reported visitor is the 2023 Doak Walker Award (Nation’s Top RB) winner out of Oklahoma State, Ollie Gordon II.

Dynamic ball-carrier had an excellent week at the Senior Bowl & remains one of the premier RBs in a loaded class.

Jeremy Betz’s Scouting Report:
Gordon is a big, powerful back with one goal in mind: to run you over. He does a fantastic job squaring up in the hole to take on potential tacklers and initiates contact with a force few in the class possess. He protects the ball and has a great nose for the endzone. Agility is not his strength, and he can get caught running too upright, which limits his ability to bounce runs outside or take advantage of cutback lanes. He’s a straight-line downhill runner with deceptive burst in short area, though he lacks true long speed once he gets out in the open. A plus as a pass catcher out of the backfield, but will need to improve in pass pro to be considered a potential 3-down back at the next level. Overall, Gordon is a late Day 2/early Day 3 prospect in a loaded RB class, with the potential to contribute as the thunder to someone else’s lightning in a committee as a Rookie.
