Steelers 2024 Rookie Review: Round 6, DL, Logan Lee
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team who loves to build their team from the ground up. In other words, they’ve always been a team who loves to build through the draft, instead of finding players on the open market via free agency. With the 2024 season now officially over, it is the perfect time of year to take a look back at the past season’s rookie class.
Who were the impact players, and who were those who left plenty to be desired? Let’s get the recap started…
Player: Logan Lee
Position: Defensive End/Tackle
Drafted: Round 6 (178th Pick)
2024 Statistics:
Games Played: 0
Recap: When you think about the Steelers 2024 rookie class, the only theme which extends throughout the entire group are injuries. You could include time on Injured Reserve (IR) as well.
- Troy Fautanu — IR
- Zach Frazier — Missed time with an ankle injury
- Roman Wilson — IR
- Mason McCormick — Missed time with a broken hand
- Ryan Watts — IR
Not to be left out, 6th Round pick Logan Lee spent the entire season on IR. It is hard to tell just what the Steelers have in Lee based on his inability to stay on the field. Many viewed Lee’s injury as a reason to shelve him on IR, giving him a red-shirt year. That might have been the case, but it is also difficult to get excited about a player you never saw provide anything to the team in 2024.
When he was drafted there were many who compared him to former 7th Round pick Brett Keisel. Those comparisons might be warranted, but also might be hasty considering how Keisel carved out a starting role for himself on those legendary early 2000s defenses. Could Lee get to that point? Keisel provided plenty of reason on why that could happen, but that might be a pipe dream at this point.
Nonetheless, the red-shirt year for Lee will give him an opportunity to have a full offseason to come into camp in 2025 with not only a better understanding of what will be expected, but also putting himself in the best shape possible to make the roster and make an impact. Will he be able to accomplish this feat? Only time will tell…
