Knee Jerk Reactions of the Steelers Selection of Derrick Harmon In Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft

Knee-jerk Reactions are immediate responses to a situation without taking the time to analyze the situation. That’s something as sports fans that we typically do. Especially if you are a full blood Yinzer, or even just a part Yinzer. As is the custom, I compile my knee jerk thoughts and publish them immediately after each Steelers game. It’s my version of running my mouth first and apologizing later (or not apologizing at all). So with that being said, I’m going to employ that philosophy here during the 2025 NFL Draft.

Anyone want to guess on how long the boos for Roger Goodell will last? I am going with 6.5 seconds.
Here we go!

• Forget the “boo”, Goodell rode in on a bike, I wish he would have wrecked.
• And the Titans are on the clock.
• No surprise, Cam Ward is the pick.
• Jacksonville trades up with Cleveland and takes Travis Hunter, which once the trade happened you figured that was who they were coming up to get.
• Giants go edge rusher.
• The first OT off the board at #4.
• Browns make the pick at 5 and select DT Mason Graham…..at least I know he’s someone to hate now.
• That pick at #5 won me a bet with one of my students who insisted Sanders would go top 5.
• RB at #6 to the Raiders…..the only 1st round RB in my opinion.
• Jets with an OT, another guy to block for Justin Fields.
• First WR at 8th, Tet McMillan.
• Saints go OT, protection for Rattler. Love seeing his reaction with his family….that’s what the draft is about for me.
• 49’ers with edge rusher at 11, Mykel Williams, they got that pick in really quick.
• OG from Alabama to the Cowgirls, Zach Martin replacement?
• DT Kenneth Graham…..there went the pick from The Scho Bro Show in rd 1 of the mock draft.
• Colts rush their pick in to the league and get a TE without having to trade up.
• Edge from Georgia taken, Jalon Walker to the Falcons at 15…..not the shake-up to the entire draft like they did last year.
• Cardinals go D line…..as we creep ever closer to the Steelers pick.
• Shemar Stewart to the Bengals……Andrew Wilbar was happy, as he is not big on him, so glad he is a Bungle.
• Seachickens draft guard Grey Zabel.
• Two picks to get the Steelers on the clock…..time to start getting nervous.
• WR for the Bucs.  This bodes well for the Steelers.
• Denver grabs CB Jahde Barron and the Steelers are now on the clock!!!!
• Steelers grab DT Derrick Harmon from Oregon!!!!  Still building the trenches!!!  I like it.
• Not sticking for the rest of the round one.  Will be back for more coverage tomorrow
