Knee Jerk Reactions of the Steelers on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft

Knee-jerk Reactions are immediate responses to a situation without taking the time to analyze the situation. That’s something as sports fans that we typically do. Especially if you are a full blood Yinzer, or even just a part Yinzer. As is the custom, I compile my knee jerk thoughts and publish them immediately after each Steelers game. It’s my version of running my mouth first and apologizing later (or not apologizing at all). So with that being said, I’m going to employ that philosophy here during the 2025 NFL Draft.

  • It’s a tap in of Lil’ Bro for Big Bro.
  • I’ll be both here and in the SCN YouTube live broadcast, so you all may be getting comments from others on there
  • And were off!
  • How long do we have to wait for Sheduer Sanders to get drafted so we have to stop hearing about it?
  • Running backs going, but the Steelers already have theirs. Skatterbo to the Giants.
  • There goes who we had in the 7th round of the Scho Bro Show mock draft in the beginning of the fourth round. But that’s typical.
  • The common theme through the first half of the fourth round- teams are taking players to fit them, so players who some thought would be there later are going sooner.
  • There are all kinds of options for the Steelers in round four with seven picks to go.
  • The Steelers add an edge rusher who wasn’t expected to be there. It’s Jack Sawyer from Ohio State.
  • It appears the Steelers are making sure they a adding to stop the run. Sawyer can rush the passer, but looks to bring more to stop the run than Nick Herbig.
  • End of round four. “He who shall not be named” has now fallen to at least the fifth round.
  • And Sheduer Sanders goes at pick 144 to… the Cleveland Browns??? Not even the top quarterback they took in this draft. Dang.
  • I thought we wouldn’t have to hear the Sanders talk once he was gone. Looks like I’m wrong.
  • Getting close? Once again, still a lot of options.
  • There was an option I wasn’t thinking about… the Steelers trade back!
  • It’s back 8 spots to pick up a seventh-round pick just ahead of the other pick they have in the seventh.
  • If you could trade back and still get your guy, why not?
  • The Steelers do the double, double dip. They double dip at defensive line and double dip at Iowa.
  • It’s nose tackle Yahya Black from Iowa.
  • He’s a big dude. I’m not going to complain about that one bit.
  • And down goes Frazier… twice. That’s CB Zah Frazier to Chicago and guard Miles Frazier to Detroit.
  • Finally on to round six. Steelers pick is early in this round.
  • And the Steelers are on the clock.
  • There’s the quarterback. I’d have taken him in the 4th Round. It’s Will Howard from Ohio State.
  • This is great value here.
  • For people that think this is an eventual starter, that would be a huge over achievement from his draft position. If he’s a quality backup that is good value.
  • There goes a kicker to the Patriots.
  • Of course the Ratbirds have to grab a kicker.
  • Here comes the seventh round.
  • These picks are early and only 3 selections apart.
  • The first is one I should have thought of but forgot about until now. It’s linebacker Carson Bruener from Washington.
  • In case you didn’t know, that’s Mark Bruener’s son.
  • If you don’t know who Mark Bruener is/was, go find out.
  • This looks like a push of Mark Robinson for a roster spot to me.
  • Right back of the clock.
  • Steelers add a corner. A slot corner to be exact. Donte Kent from Central Michigan
  • This looks like someone to push Beanie Bishop for a roster spot.
  • Well, the Steelers are done.
  • I’m exhausted. I need a nap. Put, as usual, I love the draft class.
  • Let’s break it all down for the next three months leading up to training camp.

There you have it, my knee jerks. Bring on the undrafted free agents and the breakdown on picks. CAN’T WAIT!
