Former Steelers Larry Ogunjobi and Van Jefferson find new NFL homes

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team who has lost more players from their 2024 than they’ve gained, and it isn’t even close. While they’ve added just a couple players since the start of the legal tampering period Monday, they’ve lost a number of players who were big-time contributors in the team’s efforts last season.

Gone are the likes of Najee Harris, Justin Fields, Donte Jackson, and James Daniels, among others. One player who the Steelers released for cap purposes has already found a new home, and that is Larry Ogunjobi.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Ogunjobi is signing a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills worth up to $10 million dollars with incentives.

As for Ogunjobi’s play, he spent the last three seasons in Pittsburgh, appeared in 48 games with 45 starts. He totaled 132 tackles and 6.0 sacks. Ogunjobi also forced a fumble, recovered two fumbles, and had two passes defensed.

The other player who left the team via free agency is wide receiver Van Jefferson. According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Shultz, Jefferson is joining the Tennessee Titans on a 1-year deal worth up to $2.5 million dollars.

As for Jefferson’s output in his one season with the Steelers, he and appeared in all 17 games with 12 starts. Jefferson had 24 receptions on 40 targets for 276 yards and two touchdowns.

Today, Wednesday, the NFL’s league year officially begins, and some of these reported deals can become official. Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for the rest of free agency, and the 2025 NFL Draft.
