Former Steelers GM Kevin Colbert joining Colorado State as consultant

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Kevin Colbert moved on from one another after the 2022 NFL Draft, and the former General Manager (GM) is reportedly finding new work in the college ranks. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Colbert is set to join Colorado State as a consultant. More and more colleges are bringing on GM and consultants to help keep their football programs competitive and cutting edge, and Colorado State is trying to do the same.

This from Thamel’s official Twitter/X account:

Following Colbert stepping down from GM with the Steelers, he remained in the organization working with the alumni association. While he talked about being a sounding board for new GM Omar Khan, it is unknown whether he had any input or insight into how things developed after his departure as GM.

Khan and assistant GM Andy Weidl are preparing for their third draft in their current roles, and Colbert will now be transitioning from the salary cap of the NFL to the wild west which is NIL, Name Image and Likeness, and transfer portal of big-time Division 1 football.
