Aaron Rodgers visiting the Steelers, could a deal be imminent?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are still in the midst of their 2025 offseason, and there could be a big question on the roster being answered soon. That question would be at the quarterback position, and the suitor being Aaron Rodgers.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, Rodgers is in Pittsburgh visiting with the Steelers today, Friday, but he also cautions those who believe a deal could be imminent. Dulac states a commitment might not come today, or at all, based on how the conversations go with head coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Omar Khan and team president Art Rooney II.
This from Dulac:
Sources have cautioned a commitment from Rodgers may not come today, if at all, and he is just visiting with coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan. https://t.co/260dA5giml

If Rodgers decides to play in 2025, and decides to play for the Steelers, a lot of questions will remain regarding the deal.
- What is the duration of the contract?
- How much will it cost for 2025?
- Will the Steelers still be looking for another free agent quarterback to round out the room?
Rodgers has taken his time making his decision, and the Steelers have been patient as the 4-time NFL MVP makes up his mind about his plans for the upcoming season. Will Rodgers be a difference maker for the Steelers this season, that has yet to be determined as the aging quarterback never looked comfortable with the New York Jets in 2024 after missing almost all of 2023 after he ruptured his Achilles Tending in Week 1 of that season.
Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for the rest of free agency, and the 2025 NFL Draft.
Lock them in an internal conference room and turn the lights off. See if that leads either party to seeing the light.
Only if we lace the water with LSD or shrooms?
That sounds fun
I think at this point for Rodgers he is either coming to Pittsburgh or retiring. The fact that he showed leads me to believe that he will be there on a two year $80M deal.
I didn’t down vote you, but I damn sure hope you’re wrong!! 1-year at $25M is too rich for my liking on Rodgers.
I am just guessing based on what I think Rodgers wants. Maybe that is the hang up. The Steelers are at $25M and Rodgers is at $40M and neither is willing to budge at this point. I’m not sure Rodgers has the leverage he thinks.
That’s a HARD PASS….please don’t spend any money on Rodgers or Russ…..Let’s roll with Rudolph. He can throw it deep. If it don’t workout then we are set with a great draft pick next year.
Funny cause that is how people thought in 2019 after Ben went down and yet they still managed an 8-8 record. Don’t kid yourselves Steeler Fans, the team the way it’s constructed can get 9-10 wins and a fair shot at the playoffs. Furthermore banking on a Draft Class that can easily blow up in everybody’s face has the wrong mentality.
This feels like the Batchelor NFL……oh, I so hope Aaron gives us the rose. Screw you Rodgers. If they sign this guy they deserve the circus they’re asking for.
Not a fan if we sign Rodgers. The reason is it won’t make a difference. I believe we are looking at another 9 or 10 win season with an early playoff exit. Good for some teams, not good enough for the Steelers.
The signing won’t make a difference because despite the various players over the years, the same predictable offensive and defensive schemes still exist. I don’t think we get over the hump until that changes.
Certainly not a fire Tomlin rant, as he has some fine qualities. If he would just hire solid coordinators and trust them to do their job, we might see improvement.
I don’t fear the team failing, I fear the same re-run of “ok” for the next 5 years. Too predictable at this point.
I was going to say you might want to change that line that says “good enough for some teams, not good enough for the Steelers” but your last line put it like it is. Maybe not good enough for the pre Ben Steelers…. They seemed to want to win every year….
The only good news in any of this is I’ve heard reports that Pittsburgh isn’t willing to go more than a 1 year deal. Other than that, please let this pass and please let AR go into retirement. The fans don’t want him, the organization is better off without him, and, for the love of all that is holy, I’m sick and tired of his drama.
I honestly don’t see any benefit to having him on the team. I agree that he’s probably the best QB we could potentially have at this point for the upcoming season, but can he really come here and make us a legit super bowl contender? I don’t think so. The best he’s going to do is make us a middle of the pack team again so we can go into next year’s draft with a pick somewhere between 18 and 24 for a decent QB class in a season where we REALLY need to find a franchise QB. I’m not for tanking for a good draft spot, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to make moves just to show you aren’t tanking. Sometimes, it’s best to just play the hand you’re delt, and do your best for this season, and next season.
