2025 NFL Free Agent Market Report: Offensive Tackles

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a situation of uncertainty many a spot on their offense, but not necessarily at the OT position. While they stand to lose Dan Moore Jr. and Calvin Anderson to other teams, the Men of Steel seem ready to ride or die with their last two No. 1 selections Broderick Jones on the left side and Troy Fautanu on the right. However, the team has a projected $60m-plus space under the cap and could benefit from a plethora of available bargain veterans as depth.

Below is a list of the Top Ten NFL Free Agent Offensive Tackles as ranked by Pro Football Focus. No matter if Pittsburgh could afford these guys, actually be willing to pay handsomely or whether it would be unwise, in your opinion, to bring any of these players in, they are on the list to be considered. Take a look and decide for yourself.

Most Notable Free Agent Offensive Tackles

Ronnie Stanley – Baltimore Ravens

Age: 30.9, Height: 6’6”, Weight: 310 lbs.

Calculated Market Value: 2 years/$20m per year

One would think that the Ravens would once again use the franchise tag on a player for the third year in a row with Ronnie Stanley set to hit the open market. However, the Ravens have very little room under the cap with only $5.9m so it might be a tall order. The All Pro and two-time Pro Bowl LT was drafted by Baltimore with the sixth-overall selection in 2016 and has stood out in purple for nine fine seasons due to his vast quickness out of his stance at the snap, fantastic power and has excelled as a pass blocker, protecting Lamar Jackson’s blindside. In a year that doesn’t feature a wealth of free agents at the position, Ronnie Stanley is expected to get quite a payday for a player that is still at the top of his profession.

2024 Stats

Games Played: 17, Offensive Snaps Played: 1,221

Sacks Allowed: 2, Hurries Allowed: 34, Penalties: 15

Free Agency Position Rank: 1

Cam Robinson – Minnesota Vikings

Age: 29.3, Height: 6’6”, Weight: 335 lbs.

Calculated Market Value: 3 years/$18.75m per year

Acquired in October of 2024 from the Jaguars because of an ACL/MCL tear to the knee of Christian Darrisaw, Robinson is solid but not spectacular. He is however one of the best options in a shallow pool. He might not fetch the big deal that he just completed, but Cam could provide reliable play and powerful run-blocking for LT-needy teams in exchange for one more decent deal.

2024 Stats

Games Played: 17, Offensive Snaps Played: 1,073

Sacks Allowed: 8, Hurries Allowed: 49, Penalties: 13

Overall Grade: 63.2 (Average)

Pass Blocking: 70.4 (Above Average), Run Blocking: 60.0 (Average)

Overall PFF Free Agency Rank: 17

Free Agency Position Rank: 2

Tyron Smith – New York Jets

Age: 34.2, Height: 6’5”, Weight: 320 lbs.

Calculated Market Value: 1 year/$8m per year

Smith is a possible option for some teams, but age, health and a dramatic decline may put the five-time All Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler at the end of a Hall of Fame career. Named to the NFL’s all-2010s All-Decade Team, Tyron was always known as a powerful run blocker who also handled elite pass rushers well. There may be some of that talent left, however a rough 2024 performance-wise and due to a neck issue is something that teams should consider despite Smith being an economical LT option.

2024 Stats: Games Played: 10, Offensive Snaps Played: 386

Sacks Allowed: 5, Hurries Allowed: 13, Penalties: 6

Overall Grade: 73.7 (Above Average)

Pass Blocking: 72.3 (Above Average), Run Blocking: 72.4 (Above Average)

PFF Position Ranking: 30

Overall PFF Free Agency Rank: 29

Free Agency Position Rank: 3

Alaric Jackson – Los Angeles Rams

Age: 26.6, Height: 6’7”, Weight: 345 lbs.

Calculated Market Value: 4 years/$14.5m per year

Jackson went from an undrafted free agent from Iowa to a respected and valued blindside protector of Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles. Alaric had a career year in 2024 and with great length and size, the athletic and agile Jackson seems to have a lot of years left and is talented, balanced and reliable enough to anchor most o-lines.

2024 Stats: Games Played: 14, Offensive Snaps Played: 1,017

Sacks Allowed: 3, Hurries Allowed: 18, Penalties: 8

Overall Grade: 78.4 (Good)

Pass Blocking: 79.2 (Good), Run Blocking: 75.2 (Good)

PFF Position Ranking: 18

Overall PFF Free Agency Rank: 46

Free Agency Position Rank: 4

Dan Moore Jr. – Pittsburgh Steelers

Age 26.4, 6’5”/315 lbs.

Calculated Market Value: 3 years/$13.33m per year

Moore is not expected to return to Pittsburgh, but he will have an opportunity to sign elsewhere for good money. Moore had games early on where he held down the fort on the blindside for the Steelers, but his play declined dramatically down the stretch. In fact, No. 65’s career in the Steel City was slightly better than pedestrian. Moore, in this group of free agents will indeed get a starting gig, but his struggles with quick pass rushers and mediocre run blocking should be noted by GMs.

2024 Stats: Games Played: 17, Offensive Snaps Played: 1,127

Sacks Allowed: 12, Hurries Allowed: 26, Penalties: 5

Overall Grade: 67.2 (Above Average)

Pass Blocking: 66.9 (Above Average), Run Blocking: 60.9 (Average)

PFF Position Ranking: 42

Overall PFF Free Agency Rank: 47

Free Agency Position Rank: 5

Morgan Moses – New York Jets

Age: 33.9, Height: 6’6”, Weight: 320 lbs.

Calculated Market Value: 2 years/$5m per year

Moses has been a very consistent and valuable pass-protector in eleven productive NFL seasons and has played at least 14 games a season in his past ten. The UVA product has stayed in the league this long because he remains a solid pass protector. He has the savvy and the intangibles to be a solid depth piece and a reliable injury replacement for many a franchise.

2024 Stats: Games Played: 14, Offensive Snaps Played: 723

Sacks Allowed: 5, Hurries Allowed: 13, Penalties: 6

Overall Grade: 63.3 (Average)

Pass Blocking: 69.2 (Above Average), Run Blocking: 60.6 (Average)

PFF Position Ranking: 52

Overall PFF Free Agency Rank: 57

Free Agency Position Rank: 6

Jedrick Wills Jr. – Cleveland Browns

Age 25.7, 6’4”/307 lbs.

Calculated Market Value: 1 year/$3m per year

For the second-consecutive season, Jedrick Wills has had a season cut short by persistent injuries and ineffective play. However, the five-year veteran came to the league out of Alabama in 2020 with a nasty disposition and a powerful penchant for blocking for the run. If he can get back to that, a healthy Wills could be a bargain. Unfortunately, there’s bust potential as well. At a price tag of $3m, teams will give JWJ one last chance to get back on track.

2024 Stats: Games Played: 5, Offensive Snaps Played: 245

Sacks Allowed: 3, Hurries Allowed: 5, Penalties: 7

Overall Grade: 52.9 (Below Average)

Pass Blocking: 63.6 (Average), Run Blocking: 51.6 (Below Average)

PFF Position Ranking: 109

Overall PFF Free Agency Rank: 70

Free Agency Position Rank: 7

Honorable Mention

Kelvin Beachum – Arizona Cardinals

Age 35.7, 6’3”/308 lbs.

Calculated Market Value: 1 year/$4.1m per year

Beachum is still a valued backup pass protector that has earned an opportunity at a 15th season in the NFL because of a reliable blue-color style of play and an amazing work ethic. Any franchise could use a veteran as depth on the field and as a leader in the locker room.

2024 Stats: Games Played: 16, Offensive Snaps Played: 742

Sacks Allowed: 4, Hurries Allowed: 10, Penalties: 5

Overall Grade: 64.1 (Average)

Pass Blocking: 75.4 (Good), Run Blocking: 54.2 (Below Average)

Would be interested to see if the Steelers went for a tackle and moved Fautanu to guard, though, I think a goal of the offensive line is to finally get their guys at their true positions

I would like to see them go after one of the Jets guys or Beachum to serve as #3 OT. Nice to have a vet and someone that can jump in if #1 or #2 fall flat.

a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, since the 70’s Steelers Omar Khan shuold draft a offensive tackle because signing a free agent isn’t worth the money and the N.F.L. draft is much cheaper and the players are younger, faster, quicker
