2025 NFL Draft WR ‘Quick Hitters:’ Mini Scouting Reports for Mid-Round Receivers
Over the past four months, I have provided you all more detailed scouting reports on the top prospects in this draft. However, due to time constraints that come along with finishing your final semester of college, working, and serving in church ministry, I was unable to write detailed scouting reports for many of the players I have rated in the 40-125 range of this draft. The intention of today’s article is to get you mildly familiar with the best prospects who will still be available in Rounds 2-4.
Today, we will take a closer look at the wide receivers.
*Note: Players who I have already written full scouting reports for will not be featured in these articles. You may access those on my position rankings article, which may be accessed HERE.
Jalen Royals | WR | Ole Miss | 6’0″, 205 lbs
- Thick build; great physicality at the catch point
- Impressive body control
- Solid route-runner but needs to become more precise on his initial cut
- Struggles against length on the perimeter; needs to learn how to win against press coverage
Isaiah Bond | WR | Texas | 5’11”, 180 lbs
- Serious deep speed
- Strong hands on contested catches
- Adding a little weight will help keep him from getting pushed off his route
- In the midst of off-field situations; unclear if they are concerning or not
Tre Harris | WR | Ole Miss | 6’2″, 205 lbs
- Incredibly productive despite missing time due to injury
- Accelerates quickly and plays faster than he timed
- Needs to learn how to use his body better in contested-catch situations
Jaylin Noel | WR | Iowa State | 5’10”, 194 lbs
- Elite athlete despite a lack of size
- Good route-runner with the upside to become even better
- Tries to get upfield before securing the ball; significant concerns with drops
Jayden Higgins | WR | Iowa State | 6’4″, 214 lbs
- Big body with an ability to high-point the football
- Sure hands and physical at the catch point
- Not a great separator
Xavier Restrepo | WR | Miami | 5’10”, 209 lbs
- One of the best route-runners in the class
- Smart, tough, and fights for the football
- Likely limited to the slot in the NFL
- Would be a surefire Day 2 pick if not for a fluke 40 time at his pro day
Jack Bech | WR | TCU | 6’1″, 214 lbs
- Great hands
- Gets good positioning against corners and shields defenders with his body effectively down the field
- Incredibly motivated following the unfortunate death of his brother Tiger
- Lacks top-end speed
Tory Horton | WR | Colorado State | 6’3″, 196 lbs
- Sure hands
- Mature route-runner
- Above-average athlete with enough speed to stretch the field
- Lacks physicality
- Knee injury from 2024 might be a concern for some teams
Savion Williams | WR | TCU | 6’4″, 222 lbs
- Provides more versatility than the typical receiver of his size
- Uses his frame to shield defenders from the ball; plus physicality
- Too many body catches; lacks confidence in his hands
- Not likely to ever be a full-time, high-volume receiver
Kyle Williams | WR | Washington State | 5’11”, 190 lbs
- Highly productive prospect who displays clean footwork at the cut of his route
- Great ball skills down the field
- Enough speed to be a field-stretcher; dangerous after the catch
- Needs to improve his focus at the point of the catch
Elic Ayomanor | WR | Stanford | 6’2″, 206 lbs
- Physical on 50/50 balls and displays tough hands
- Very raw as a route runner
- Brings in the tough catches but needs to be more careful on the routine ones
Tez Johnson | WR | Oregon | 5’10” | 154 lbs
- Quick more than fast; separates late in the route
- Incredibly agile and twitchy as a route-runner
- Anyone at his size is going to come with valid durability concerns
Tai Felton | WR | Maryland | 6’1″, 183 lbs
- Ball skills and speed come in handy down the field as a deep threat
- Deceptive with his speeds
- Adding a few extra pounds wouldn’t be a bad idea
- Lacks physicality; bigger corners can bully him
